Request Your Virginia Driving Record

To obtain a Virginia driving record, use Virginia DMV’s official driver-record request. DMV offers online access and official copies, plus transcript types for personal use, employment/school/military, insurance and other defined purposes. Access to another person’s DMV information is restricted by law.

    Provide required identity/request details

    For CRD-93, complete requester/subject name and address, the reason and record type, driver-license number and birth date, and the requester signature/date. Provide the required requester Social Security number directly to DMV. Follow the official online prompts when ordering online.

    Save the official copy and date

    Use the dated transcript for the purpose it was requested for.

Virginia delivery options

Online view/order

Use DMV Record Request to view/order your own record. Online purchase is $8 per driving record (checked October 2, 2026); a purchased view can be reopened free within 5 days. Allow pop-ups for the record. For mailed delivery, make sure the DMV address on your license or ID is current.

Mail request

Mail CRD-93 or a written request with the required details and $9 transcript fee to Virginia DMV, Attention: Customer Records Work Center, P. O. Box 27412, Richmond, VA 23269. Mail payment must be a check or money order payable to DMV. DMV says a record requested through the mail is mailed within 5 business days; allow transit time separately.

Customer service center

At a DMV customer service center, present a valid driver’s license or photo identification card and the $9 transcript fee. Certification adds $5 per driving record to the applicable channel price; fees checked October 2, 2026.
